IsaDora 706 – In the Army

January 17th, 2012 | Posted by Mari in Nail Polish Swatches - (0 Comments)

Today I’m wearing a khaki nail polish by IsaDora (for those who never heard of it – its a Swedish cosmetics brand). The name of the polish speaks for itself, it’s a classic military green shade with no shimmer/glitter added – actually, have you seen any in the army? :)
Here’s the polish hiding from the camera:

Big Apple Red – OPI NL N25

January 16th, 2012 | Posted by Mari in Nail Polish Swatches - (0 Comments)

Big Apple Red dates back to the Fall of 2000, when OPI released their New York City collection of 12 nail polishes, including this very shade. The polish was a great success, so OPI made it a part of the Classic collection of colors.

We’ll always have Paris – OPI NL F20

January 14th, 2012 | Posted by Mari in Nail Polish Swatches - (0 Comments)

We’ll always have Paris comes from OPI France collection for Fall/Winter 2008. I know it is an oldie, but I really like this deep plum purple cream. It’s a fantastic vampy color for a snowy winter day. One of my favorites!

Here it is in the bottle (daylight):

Maybelline NY Colorama 22 – Jelly Bean

January 12th, 2012 | Posted by Mari in Nail Polish Swatches - (0 Comments)

Here’s another cheap and cheerful nail polish I found at the local store yesterday – Maybelline Colorama 22 in Jelly Bean. It is a pretty almost metallic greenish/blueish shade. This color reminds me of mermaids for some reason :)

Day 9: RAINBOW Nail Art

It’s rainbow nails today, and I wasn’t sure which design to use, that’s why I picked the easiest one :D

I was in two minds of what polish to wear for this particular “metallic nails” challenge – a foil polish or a magnetic one – and finally I decided on a magnetic polish #09 from Golden Rose.
Golden Rose is a Turkish brand and its products are very popular here, mainly due to their wide range of colors and textures and fairy cheap prices. I got this one for less than $3.

The polish contains metallic particles that create a pattern on the nail under the magnetic influence. Here’s a pic of the polish and its magnet:

Day 7: BLACK & WHITE nails

January 4th, 2012 | Posted by Mari in Nail Art Designs - (0 Comments)

It’s the 7th day of the challenge and I’m wearing black and white mani. I decided to try a simple nail art design using two classic colors, and I painted a silver stripe on each nail to make it look more interesting.

Black and White Nails Design

For the base color I used Orly’s GoGo white nail polish (4 coats). I chose it for its silver microglitter as I don’t like to wear plain white polishes on my nails. The glitter is hardly visible from the distance, but at least I know it’s there :)
For the black color I used Sally Hansen’s Hard As Nails cream Black Out (2 coats). Silver stripes were made with Orly’s Dazzle, and I used Orly’s Glosser as a top coat.

Today is a day of purple nail polish, so I’m wearing Velvet Rope 40631 from Orly’s Hot Stuff collection of “the best and brightest shades”. It’s a very deep blue based purple polish. The formula is very cooperative and coverage looks just right after three rather thin coats.

Day 5: BLUE nails – Frisky by Orly

December 29th, 2011 | Posted by Mari in Nail Polish Swatches - (0 Comments)

Today’s blue polish is Frisky 48721 and it’s from Orly’s Happy Go Lucky Spring 2011 collection. I also have Fresh from this collection and now I’m thinking of buying Frolic.

2 coats of Orly’s Frisky + 1 coat of Orly Glosser:
