BPS mirror nail polish

Born Pretty Store mirror nail polish

Was I the only one who didn’t try the BPS mirror polish? I think nearly every nail blogger already swatched it, and finally I can say I tried it too!

To start with, it’s not just a nail polish, it comes as a set of a mirror nail polish and a top coater (both are in 15ml bottles). The recipe is a) apply the top coater, b) apply the mirror polish, and c) use the top coater again. The first step is not necessary if your nails are smooth and buffed, the polish applies just fine on naked nails. However it applied unevenly on my usual Dance Legend peel off base, so I had to remove it and start again with the BPS top coater.

I did a colour wheel swath of the mirror polish with and without the top coater. The top coater is crucial if you want to achieve the amazing mirror effect. If you use the nail polish without the top, you’ll get just silver nails. I like both looks, mirror nails are great for a party/night out and silver nails are everyday appropriate :)

Have a look, on the left we have the polish topped with the top coater and on the left the polish is without the top:

As for the application, I have never seen a nail polish that dries THAT fast. My nails are completely dry immediately after I apply it, no matter how many coats I use (by the way, the pics show 3 thin coats of the polish). I wish other nail polishes were so fast to dry!

I wore it for around hours6 and it stayed ok except for some minor nail tip wear. They warn you on the BPS website that the wear time is limited, and you shouldn’t expect your manicure last long. Also I heard that cuticle oils and hand creams dull the mirror effect.

Personally I see it as one of those special occasion nail polishes that we wear for a evening or night out, nothing more. Your mirror-like manicure will sure get lots of attention and after the party you’ll be able to remove the polish easily with a nail polish remover.

Overall, I highly recommend the set! It’s quite unique and a fun toy to try, especially if you love nail polish. The only downside is I have no idea what the polish contains, because the bottles have no contents labels.

I got the mirror nail polish set for review from HaruNoUta beauty store, and they also gave me a 300JPY off coupon code MALT300 to share with my readers, so feel free to use it :)

Thank you for looking!

  1. This is a very unique product and with great eye-catching effect. I agree, it’s true that it doesn’t last very long, so it’s perfect for some special occasions! Also, it shows all the irregularities on nails, so nails should be prepared with a little bit of nail filing before the application… But, the final effect is really great! :-)

Yep, it dries super fast! And the finish is amazing even though the mirror effect is short lasting.. :)

  4. I agree. Mirror nail polish is more appropriate for the night out. I love having them but only for these occasions because my nails are too shiny during the day. That’s why I customize them by adding shapes or stripes with plain nail polishes.
