I’ve been looking for a good true blue nail polish for quite a while, and I wanted it to be from one of the brands I know and I love.
It seems like OPI read my mind and released the exact blue color that I wanted! When I saw their My Pal Joey (NL H90) I knew I need it in my collection, and here I am – a happy owner of the blue!
My Pal Joey code is NL H90, and the polish belongs to the OPI Hello Kitty collection 2016. Below I have its bottom label and a colour wheel comparison of My Pal Joey with Keeping Suzi at Bay (San Francisco 2013) which is clearly darker than Joey.
The polish covers opaque in two coats, and the creme formula is a silky smooth perfection. I couldn’t be happier with how easy My Pal Joey applies and how fast it dries. If you are looking for a good primary blue, I suggest you try this OPI. The pics here show the OPI in 2 coats over a clear base.
The only thing I didn’t like about the polish was its white Hello Kitty cap wrapper. The wrappers help to find the collection bottles among other OPI colors, but I decided I don’t need the wrapper, and that’s what I did:
It was easy to remove it, though there were some white residue left on the cap underneath the wrapper (some glue perhaps), and I had to wash it off with soap. Now My Pal Joey looks like the rest of OPIs in my collection :) I really like this blue nail polish, so you’ll see more of it here, that’s for sure!
As for the Hello Kitty accent nail, I used OPI Alpine Snow for the white base, and then I hand painted Hello Kitty with acrylic paints.
Thank you for looking, I hope you liked my simple Hello Kitty design!
