You probably know how much I love teals and aqua nail polishes, and that’s why OPI Fly was a very welcome addition to my collection when I bought it last winter.
This teal nail polish came out with the OPI Nicki Minaj collection in January 2012. The collection included 5 shades and a purple crackle nail polish. When I saw its promo swatches I instantly fell in love with Fly, while the other colors left me indifferent.
Fly is a pure teal colour, it has no shimmer or glitter and I like the fact a lot.
The polish applies very well, and in one coat it looks a bit like a crelly. Two coats give you an amazing and shiny creme finish. In the pics here you can see 2 coats of Fly over 2 clear ORLY Nail Defense base coats. Why two coats of the base? Because the polish stains really badly. Please, do not apply it on your bare nails, and also be very careful so the polish wouldn’t get to your skin or cuticles, or you’ll have to do a lot of clean up :(
With 2 coats of the base and two coats of OPI Fly I had to use a fast drying top coat, which added some extra shine to the manicure.
Teals are usually not that easy to be photographed, so to give you a better idea of the color I compared Fly with some of my other blue green nail polishes. In the pic below we have from left to right:
- OPI Can’t Find My Czechbook – a blue from the OPI Spring 2013 collection
- Rimmel Sky High – an oldie in my collection, I’ve already used about half of the bottle
- OPI Fly – today’s hero
- Dior Nirvana – another beautiful teal color, I’m going to show you this one soon as well
- A-England Galahad – a well known teal, here it’s the closest shade to Fly, but the polishes are not dupes. Fly looks bright and cheerful to me, while Galahad is calm and muted.
In the background here is my new paisley print maxi skirt – the reason I wore Fly in the first place :) The skirt is pretty noticeable itself, and to avoid the unwanted all-the-best-at-once effect I didn’t do any nail art. To accompany the skirt and the teal nails I wore a 8 psc wooden bracelet, you can also see it in the pics :)
Thank you for looking! Hope you are having a great weekend ;)
