On my nails today – a wonderful pastel yellow ULTA Cream of the Crop. It’s as beautiful as it’s capricious:
Cream of the Crop is a very soft yellow, actually it’s the lightest yellow in my collection. Currently I have only 5 yellow polishes, and here I made a comparison of them. In the pic below from left to right we have:
- ORLY Lemonade – my most favorite pastel yellow so far
- Avon Lemon Sugar – the closest yellow to Cream of the Crop, it’s just little bit darker
- ULTA Cream of the Crop
- Rimmel Sunny Days – yellow with a slight shimmering effect. Not exactly my shade of yellow, and considering its awful application, I don’t think I’ll use it solo again
- Sephora Yellow Umbrella – a yellow creme, I’ve already swatched it here
I’m really happy with Cream of the Crop’s color, because pastel yellows are the only yellows I can see on my nails. Unfortunately there aren’t many yellows like this one out there.
However, the formula isn’t perfect, just like with most yellow nail polishes. It’s a crelly, closer to jelly, and the main problem with this polish is that it takes 4 or even 5 coats to lose streaks. I know that’s a lot, but for me the color compensates for the formula. Also, the layers dried fast with my fast drying top.
I’m still wearing Cream of the Crop on my nails (I applied it yesterday morning), and the polish looks fine – no chippng or faded tips. I just wish it needed less coats to become opaque…
In case you are wondering what I’m holding in the pics – it’s almond oil I recently bought, I’m still testing it, but I think I’m starting to like it :)
