Bright stripes on chocolate brown

A manicure that is bright enough for summer, but suitable for fall as well because of its dark brown background and colorful stripes:

Stripes on brown nail art

Vertical stripes patterns are the best to wear if you had to file your nails down because of the breakage, and you are waiting for them to grow back (exactly my story atm). Since my nails are short now, I decided to do a bright manicure to cheer myself up. The pattern idea is not mine, I remember I saw it on a web site that was far from nail art and beauty stuff, but I thought it would be nice to try something similar on my nails anyway :)

The colors I used:

  • Orly Chocoholic – chocolate brown with a slight hint of silver shimmer
  • IsaDora 624 Baby Blue – light blue creme for blue stripes
  • Sephora Yellow Umbrella – for yellow stripes
  • OPI Shorts Story – pink creme for stripes
  • Sally Hansen White On – for white stripes

Brown nail design with stripes

I painted my nails with Orly Chocoholic, and then using a striping brush I painted the colorful stripes. With the same brush I devided the stripes into “stitches”. I also used dark brown acrylic paint afterwards to make the lines smoother.

Thank you for reading! See you soon ♥

Thank you Erin! Do try the design, it’s actually very simple to do :) You can also use striping tape to make the lines perfectly straight :)

  2. It’s interesting that it looks completely black with those colors on…
It’s a super pretty mani, well done!

In real life the brown looked much darker than it really is, I guess it was because of the bright lines :)
      Thank you Maria :)

  4. I like it very much! You’re right, this kind of manicure should definitely cheer you up! :-) If you could see my poor nails now (lenght ZERO, destroyed on work today) you would be very happy about the lenght of your nails! :-)
