Teal splatter nails

What I love about splatter nail art is that the results are always unique and unpredictable. It’s sure a fun way to get creative with your nails :)

Teal splatter nail art

Yesterday I tried the technique for the first time. For the splatter manicure I chose a classic combination of teal, green, and yellow.

Splatter nails in teal and yellow

The polishes I used, in the order of applying:

  • OPI Fly – a beautiful bright teal that I love a lot, the only downside of the polish is that it stains my nails, so a base coat is a must. In the pics you can see OPI Fly in 2 coats as a background
  • Orly Lemonade – my fav pastel yellow creme
  • Orly Green Apple – light green creme
  • OPI Ski Teal We Drop – a dark teal creme, I remember I wanted this very color soooo much when I saw its first swatches!

I don’t think I need to explain the splatter nail art technique, I’m sure many of you have already tried it, or heard of it :) Let me just say that I used a cocktail straw, and instead of dipping it into the polish, I was applying the polish on the straw’s end with a regular nail polish brush. To protect my skin and cuticles I used a thin medical tape – you can find those in any drugstore.

Splatter nail design

Obviously, splatter nail art does not require a steady hand, anyone can do it no matter how good or bad their painting skills are :) Another great thing is that you will always get a unique splatter design pattern – two people can use the exactly same polishes and their splatter nail designs will vary.
Will I do splatter nails again? Yes! I love the idea much more than water marbling.

Thank you for reading! See you soon ;)
