Burnt letter

Yesterday I got two Max Factor nail polishes on sale, a royal blue creme and a off white shimmer. The blue is yet to be swatched, as for the shimmer, I’ve already tried it in the burnt paper nail art:

Letters on nails

The polish is called Opal, and it comes from Max Factor’s Glossfinity line. On the bottle it says “glossy nails for up to 7 days”. I don’t know if its staying power is really that long, to be honest I don’t see myself wearing this pearly shimmer alone for a whole week anyway. What I do know is that this colour is perfect for nail art, I think I’ll be using Opal often :)

Burnt letter nails

Here’s the 11ml bottle:

Max Factor Opal 15 nail polish

I needed 2 coats of MF Opal to get a decent opaque finish, and it applied with brush strokes, like many pearly shimmers do. Luckily, it didn’t matter this time, because the brush strokes disappeared under the design, while the shimmer gave the background some depth :)

Vintage paper nail design

To achieve this old burnt letter nail look I needed:

  • Max Factor Glossfinity Opal 15
  • Italic letters water decals – I also wrote a couple of “lines” freehand with black acrylic paint to make the design look more balanced
  • Sally Hansen X-Treme Wear in #24 Black Out and #330 Grey Area for creating the burnt paper effect (done with a make up sponge)
  • OPI Big Apple Red – for the red heart on the accent nail
  • Clear top

Old paper nail art

That’s it! I hope you liked the old paper nail design :) Thank you for reading and I see you soon xxx

Thank you :)) There’re so many variations of the newspaper/letter nail look, I love such designs too! Especially if they have some vintage idea to them :)

  2. This manicure is so beautiful! I love the colors, the decals, the burnt paper look and I definitely love the red heart that complements the rest of the colors perfectly!

Oh dear lol I’m afraid it’s impossible, I tried to read the text on the whole 6×6 cm decals design, and I couldn’t understand a single word. I’m not even sure what language it is :))

Me glad you liked the design :) I’m a huge fan of water decals, they are so thin and can be applied in no time! :)

These nails are absolutely beautiful! I may have to try out a burnt paper effect sometime soon! Any tips with the sponging?
