Nail polish removers: Sally Hansen, Pupa & Lumene

Last week I got a question about nail polish removers that I use. So I thought I could write a quick post about the removers I currently have. Please, note that I’m not advising you any of them, nor am I saying they are bad. I haven’t yet found the one and only remover that I would be completely happy with. This being said, let’s start.
Here’s the first one – it’s a well known Sally Hansen Mousturizing Nail Polish Remover for Dry and Brittle Nails (236,5 ml):

Sally Hansen Moisturizing Nail Polish Remover

It’s not the first bottle of the remover that I bought and not the last one. I like the formula – it’s light and I think I feel a sense of nourishment after using it. Here’s what the label says:

Sally Hansen Nail Polish Remover for Dry and Brittle Nails

Ingredients: acetone, water, panthenol, vitamin E, aloe barbadensis leaf extract, ethoxydiglycol, PPG-12-PEG-50 lanolin, benzophenone-3, fragrance, propylene glycol, methylparaben.

I’m not going to pretend to be an expert – I don’t know much about all the chemical ingredients with super long and scary names. All I know is that acetone and benzophenone-3 are not good for our nails and for our health in general. Apart from that I don’t see any other disadvantages of the remover. Some girls say that they don’t like the bottle, as it has no stopper, and therefore it’s easy to spill the remover. I’m ok with the size and shape of it, though the bottle could have been designed better, no argue about that.

Next is a remover from Pupa. Although the brand is popular here, I own only one Pupa nail polish, and it’s for the first time I bought the remover.

Pupa nail polish remover

Ingredients: acetone, water, hydrolyzed rhodophycea extract, fragrance, benzophenone-3, 16035 (red 40)

The remover is enriched with Red Algae extract, and scented with vanilla and pear. I bought it out of curiosity, only to find out that it’s just a typical nail polish remover. I didn’t notice that it did anything particularly outstanding for my nails. It removes nail polish ok, and it doesn’t dry my skin and cuticles. Like the previous one from Sally Hansen, Pupa has acetone and benzophenone-3.

The 3rd one is Lumene Gloss & Care nail polish remover (100 ml):

Lumene Gloss & Care nail polish remover

Ingredients: ethyl acetate, alcohol denat, butyl acetate, ricinus communis (castor) seed oil, water.

I like Lumene nail polishes and their Gloss and Care base, so I thought I’d give their polish remover a try. Well… I regret I bought it. I used the remover only a couple of times and now I don’t know what to do with the rest of it. Each time, even with creme polishes, I had to put in extra bit of pressure while removing them. Moreover, it was drying my nails and leaving white residue near the cuticles.
It’s definitely not for my nails, and I’ll never buy it again.

So those were the nail polish removers I currently have. Like I said, I haven’t found an ideal remover so far.

Now let’s move on to the best part of the post. Sweet Lendoxia nominated me for not one but two (!) awards: the Very Inspiring Blogger Award and Sunshine Award! It’s such a great feeling to know that my blog can be inspiring, thank you so much, Ana! ♥

Awards

Accepting the awards comes with two main rules, one of them is nominating other blogs and the other is answering questions. I’m really bad at nominating, but I’ll be glad if any of my dear readers who has a blog and doesn’t have the awards would accept them from me :)
As for the questions, I’ll be happy to answer them:

  1. What’s your favorite color?
I’m versatile lol Honestly, I have no idea. If we are talking about nail polish, I guess I can wear pretty much any color on my nails… Perhaps, only copper shades aren’t the ones that I reach for on a regular basis.
  2. What’s your favorite animal?
As you may already know I have a cat and I love him soooo much.
  3. What’s your favorite soft drink?
Most of the time I drink still water and green tea. I don’t remember when it was the last time I drank Coke or anything like that.
  4. What about your passion?
Well, passion is a strong word… I have things I like to do (including nail art and blogging ofc), but there’re too many of them to list, and nothing extraordinary really…
  5. What’s your favorite number?
Hmm… 666 or 777, or when a digital clock shows 00:00, I like numbers that look good and balanced. However, if I had to choose just one number I think it would be 9, because I have some precious memories connected to it.
  6. Facebook or Twitter?
Facebook. I even had some sort of fb addiction a couple of years ago thanks to a fb game (nope, not Farmville! lol), it was fun but time consuming. After that I found blogging and now I really like the idea of sharing my love for nail polish with you :)
  7. What’s your favorite flower?
    Herberas, that’s for sure :)

Ufff… That was a lot of words for me to write and for you to read! I hope I didn’t bore you ^^ Next time it’ll be a nail art post with less text, I promise :)

  1. You are welcome :) I use remover with acetone but I’m satisfied I use one that’s a brand from Muller store (originally from Germany) and I’m really satisfied with it. I don’t like to change them too much and this one is really cheap and removes polish very quickly that’s all I ask :)

Thank you for the suggestion :) I saw recipes for diy removers, and although the idea is interesting, I’m afraid I’m too lazy for it :D I would need to find the ingredients, to mix them correctly, and to make no mistakes and not to spill anything.. ufff it’s hard for me lol
