Avon Serene

It was nice to spend the long weekend away from the city and off the computer, but now I’m happy to be back :) Today I’d love to show you Serene – a mint nail polish by Avon and a daisies nail design with it:

Serene is my first Avon nail polish, now I have a new tag here :) As far as I know, this mint color has recently been released together with a few more new Avon Nail pro+ polishes for the upcoming summer. Here’s how its 12 ml bottle looks like:

Avon Serene

I really like Serene for its colour, bottle and packaging (the polish comes in a black box). The formula however is not that wonderful. The polish is quite thick and I’m afraid it can get even thicker after a few uses.

I don’t have many mint or light aqua colors in my collection, and the closest mint I found was Cult Nails Manipulative. The main difference between those two is that Serene has a creme finish, while Manipulative is packed with tiny silver shimmer. As usual, the shimmer is hardly visible, so let me show you the difference in shades. On the left there’s Avon Serene and on the right we have CN Manipulative:

On my nails you can see 2 coats of Avon Serene over a clear base. I thought the mint colour would make a nice background for some floral nail art, so I chose a lovely daisies pattern on Konad m61 plate, and I stamped it over Serene with a cobalt blue polish. Then I coloured the daisies with white acrylic paint :)

Here’s what I used for the daisies nail design:

  • Orly Nail Defense base
  • Avon Serene
  • Konad m61 plate
  • Max Factor Cobalt Blue – for stamping
  • Acrylic paints
  • Clear top

Yes, the formula is a bit disappointing, but a top coat can make things better, or a few drops of nail polish thinner perhaps..
