I’ve been wanting to do a striping tape nail art for a while now, but I never saw those tapes in stores here. Thanks to the Born Pretty Store I finally got a chance to try it :) Here’s my very first striping tape nail design:
I got 3 rolls of striping tape in brown, pink and red colors. I was surprised to see how much tape the rolls have, I doubt I’ll run out of it any time soon.
The tape is made from a very thin shiny foil, and its width is about 1mm. If you look at it from the side, you’ll see it’s almost transparent:
There are lots of nail designs that can be done with striping tape, from french tips and neat even stripes to color blocking and complex nail art. I decided to start with something simple, like a french mani with some extra decor.
This self adhesive tape was very easy to work with. I just unrolled it a bit, cut a piece, and then stuck down to my nails (once the polish was completely dry). Then I used my manicure scissors to cut the tape close to the sides of the nails so there wasn’t any hanging off. As for the background, I used neutral colors as I wanted the striping tape to stand out and shine nicely :) I applied a coat of a clear top to seal the design and to see if the tape changes the color. Nothing bad happened :)
The list of products I used for my nail art with the brown striping tape line:
- Lumene #7 Small Island – a nude creme (2 coats)
- Rimmel #805 Grey Matter – grey nail polish with creme finish
- Brown striping tape
- Thin nail art brush
This brown striping tape can be found in the Born Pretty online store under nail art decorations. The price is $1.90 per 1 roll with free worldwide shipping, but if you use the code MARIX31 during checkout you will receive 10% off your purchase. I don’t get any commission money if you use the code, it’s purely for you to pay less, and for Born Pretty Store to know how you found them. The code works for all products in the shop. I placed a banner with it on the side bar, so feel free to use it any time you want :)
As always, thank you for reading! xxx

Thank you and thank you! :))
I have been playing with striping tape as well my huge problem is it starts to lift soon after I’m done with my mani. Maybe I need to do multiple coats of top coat not sure- this is gorgeous!
Oh I know what you mean. The glue on those tapes is not that strong to keep them on nails for long, that’s why I always top coat tape designs with at least 1 thick coat. Also, before applying the top coat, I always make sure that the tape is firmly fixed to my nails and there’s no even tiny gaps under it..
This is exquisite! love it.
