Black sakura

According to the Challenge, 27th post should be inspired by Art. No doubt, art is relative to each individual taste, and can be found everywhere. For today’s task I chose an amazing piece of Japanese art, but first, let me show you my nails:

And now I’d love to show you my inspiration. It’s a folding fan with sakura flowers and butterflies:

I found it in Kimura Ohshido online shop here. Please, note that I don’t have any connections to that shop, and it’s not an advertisement. I’m only linking to the shop to give them credits for the picture of the beautiful fan. And now back to my sakura nail design :)

Nails with sakura flowers

The design itself is quite easy to do. I painted my nails white with OPI Alpine Snow, and then I sponged pink, dark pink and black over the base color. After that I freehand painted white sakura flowers, and sealed it all with a clear top coat.
Here’s a close up of my sakura nails:

The products I used for the Japanese sakura nail design:

  • OPI Alpine Snow
  • Essie Need a Vacation – light pink
  • OPI You are Such a Kabuki Queen – dark pink creme (I chose it for its Japanese name, and the color comes from the OPI Japan collection)
  • Sally Hansen Black Out
  • White acrylic paint
  • Clear top

That was my Day 27: Inspired by Artwork manicure. I hope that amazing Japanese fan counts as a piece of art. There are also butterflies in that design, but after I painted sakura flowers, I had no space left for butterflies. Sadly, I broke my nail recently and I had to file all my nails down, now they are short :(
As always, thank you for reading and see you soon! ♥

  3. I love those Japanese fans I used to have one but I can’t remember what happened to it. This one is really pretty, combination of pink and black is always intense, it makes a good mani too :)

I am not normally a black painted nails kind of person(usually a Lil bit of design done in black) but this design has made me rethink that.

Hello Jennifer :) When I was in high school I used to wear black/dark nails very often, now I tend to like brighter and more cheerful shades. Tho once in a while I still have moments when I want my nails black, or almost black painted with some vamp color :D

  5. That fan is so amazing – and your gorgeous mani is just perfect!
