Mountain ash trees in the snow

Just another Christmas nail art idea :) As the title suggests, the design is inspired by the view of mountain ash trees covered with snow.

Snow nail art for Christmas

There are several mountain ash trees full of bright red berries near our house. The trees are all covered with snow now, and the berries look so beautiful and festive against the pure white background. Since red and white are traditional Christmas colors, I though I’ll do a holiday mani with mountain ash berries under falling snow.

I used a nude nail polish as a base, and then I sponged some white on the tips to create the snowy background. For the falling snow effect I used 1 coat of Dance Legend top Domino White. Dance Legend is a Russian nail polish brand (actually it’s very popular here), but I doubt it’s known or available anywhere except Russia. Anyway, I don’t think the polish is unique, there must be similar white glitters from other nail polish brands. Another way to get the snowfall on nails is to paint it with a dotting tool :)

After the background was dry to the touch, I freehand painted the branches and berries using a thin nail art brush. The last step was to seal the design with a clear top coat.

So, for the Christmas nail art I needed:

  • OPI No Bees Please – a nude nail polish with a subtle pink shimmer (1 coat)
  • Dance Legend Domino White – a clear based white glitter (1 coat)
  • Cult Nails Nevermore – a well pigmented black nail polish, I used it to paint the tree branches
  • Rimmel Riviera Red – bright red for the mountain ash tree berries
  • Clear top coater

I already swatched and reviewed Rimmel Riviera Red about 2 months ago, but I’ll say it once again – I’m in love with this red! Here’s another picture of the polish:

That’s it for today :) Thank you for reading, and I wish you all a most relaxing post apocalyptic weekend ;) See you soon!
