I don’t think I would have bought Rimmel Riviera Red or even noticed it among numerous red colors by other brands, and yet here I am today wearing this wonderful red nail polish:
I was in the local mall the other day, looking for a dark almost black shimmer like Orly Goth or something similar to it. In one of the stores there I saw a stand with Rimmel nail polishes and there was an offer – buy 1 and get another one for free. The polishes were paired up in duo packs, so basically I could choose only one color. Luckily the range of colors was good. I found a black nail polish with silver shimmer (just what I wanted), and it was packed together with a red one.
The black shimmer called Black Pearl looked really nice in the bottle, and still it was Riviera Red that I tried first:
… and I liked it! I thought this red color will be close to OPI Red, but when I compared Riviera Red with my other reds on a color wheel, I found out that it’s almost a dupe of my favorite OPI Color So Hot It Berns – another reason to love Riviera :)
The polish is very well pigmented. All you need to achieve an opaque coverage is only 1 coat. However, the second coat will add more depth to the color. In the pics I have 2 coats of Riviera Red over a clear base, without a topcoat.
The formula is jelly-like, and the polish dries to a high shine glossy finish. It is quite thin and spreads like a dream, without streaking or creating bubbles.
Rimmel promises that the polish will stay on your nails up to 10 days… I don’t think I’ll be able to see one and the same red color on my nails for more than 4-5 days, even if I really like the polish :)) Today is the second day I’m wearing Riviera Red and so far it’s been behaving, but I’m already thinking of a nail art with it :)
And now let me finish the post with a portrait of the lovely Rimmel duo:
As always, thank you for reading! See you soon ♥
