Color blocking seems to be popular this year, and I thought it would be fun to bring the bright, cheerful look to my nails. I didn’t feel like painting squares and straight lines, so I chose a marble-like color block design:
Color blocking nails are easy to achieve, you will need 3-4 bright nail polishes that go with each other, and a black one to paint the borders with. The borders are not obligatory ofc, but they make the colors to pop up.
I began by painting my nails with Orly Lemonade, a pale yellow. The base color should be the lightest one, because it won’t be able to cover the other darker colors the way they can cover it. After letting the base dry completely, I painted random wavy stripes over the yellow base with pink, orange and grey. Then again I waited for the design to dry. Using SH Black Out and a detailing nail art brush, I divided the colors by thin black lines, and then I added a clear shiny top coat to finish off this slightly psychedelic look.
For the color blocking nail art I needed:
- Gloss and Care Lumene base coat
- Orly Lemonade – a pastel yellow creme (amazing color!)
- Sally Hansen Sun Kissed – an orange creme
- OPI Shorts Story – a pink creme nail polish
- Sally Hansen Wet Cement – grey creme
- Orly Glosser – a clear top
- Nail art brush
