Caramels are only a fad. Chocolate is a permanent thing.

When I got up this morning in my news feed there was a posting: “September 23rd – it’s Chocolate Day!” How could I miss it?! I know it’s not a holiday in the sense that it is traditionally recognized as one, but still it doesn’t mean we cannot have fun today :) So I decided to make a chocolate nails design to celebrate this sweet holiday:
Chocolate is commonly associated with brown shades, but I always try to be careful when using brown colors in nail art, as associations can be… erm… misleading sometimes. One more reason for this not-so-brown chocolate nail design is that I’ve already posted 2 variants of brown nails recently, and I did’t want to bore you with even more brown. There also exists white chocolate, and on my nails it’ll be with strawberry feeling.
For my chocolate nails I used three colors – brown, pink and white. I used white as a base color on my middle and pinky nails, and then I added hearts and “Love” – both elements boldly showing my love for chocolate %) Stripes are painted with a nail art brush, as I was too lazy to use a tape. On the rest of the nails I applied a pink nail polish and painted brown wavy lines over it. The lines were supposed to look like chocolate sauce.
Overall, for my chocolate nails I needed:
- Lumene Gloss & Care base
- Sally Hansen White On (2 coats on accent fingers) – a white creme nail polish
- Orly Chocoholic – a brown creme (for the hearts, “chocolate sauce” and letters). Needless to say, I chose this nail polish because its name suited the whole chocolate idea perfectly
- Colorist #213 (2 coats) – a pink polish. It’s my 1st nail polish by Colorist, but the brand is quite popular here
- Orly Glosser – clear top
So, Happy Chocolate day to you and may the force chocolate be with you! See you soon ♥
I love these nails, they are so well painted – well done Mari!!
Thank you, Maria :) The manicure looks kind of girly, but I like it anyways :)
mani is amazing as always :D and I didn’t know there was a chocolate day I can’t believe that I missed that and didn’t have at least a little bit of it
thank you, it’s never too late for some chocolate ;)
