Rainbow Crackle Nails

Hello! My nails are quite short now, so it’s time to wear bright colors and crazy nail designs :) Psychedelic nail art for today – a combination of rainbow colors and crackle nail polish:

Rainbow nails - crackle

There’s nothing new about rainbow & crackle nails, it’s all over the web in various styles. Here I want to show you my version of the design. I must say I don’t like crackle effect on my nails very much, but this time it’s not just crackle, but rainbows as well :) I’ve posted rainbow nails here before, and today it’s my second try.

Black crackle nail polish

I decided to use only 4 colors of the rainbow (orange, yellow, green and blue), because I didn’t want the design to look too heavy and complicated. Crackle nail polish is already eye catching by itself.

I started with 1 coat of pure white nail polish, as it makes the colors applied over it look brighter. Then I painted color stripes onto my nails with 4 nail polishes and let them dry. Next I applied 1 thick coat of black crackle polish over the stripes, and waited for the design to be completely dry. Finally, I put a clear top over it all.

Overall, for the rainbow crackle design I needed:

  • Sally Hansen White On – white base
  • Essie Capri – orange stripes
  • Sephora Yellow Umbrella – yellow stripes
  • Orly Fresh – green stripes
  • Essence Let’s Get Lost – blue stripes
  • OPI Black Shatter – crackle nail polish
  • Orly Glosser – clear top

It’s a cheerful summertime look, and I love the rainbow colors peaking out from the crackle. The stripes were really easy to do, as I didn’t have to be perfect when painting them – all mistakes were covered by the crackle topcoat :)

That’s all for today, thank you for reading! xxx

Wauv! Found this picture on google and just HAD to know how to make it! I love to wear nailpolish and want to learn new ways to use it, and this is amazing! Right now im wearing a silver nailpolish with White cracker:-) did you use anything special to make this, Like the small papers you use for French Manicure? (Sorry, i don’t know the actual word for these in english)

Hello, Michelle! It’s always great to meet a new nail polish fan :) White on silver sounds lovely, I shroud try it one day. As for the rainbow nails – I didn’t use French manicure edge tips (I think thats how they call those strips), I simply painted 4 color stripes with regular nail polish brushes. For this mani the stripes don’t have to be precise, because the crackle top will hide all possible mistakes :)
