Galaxies and space traveling theme for today’s nails. I’ve never tried to paint anything like this before, all I knew is that I’ll need to use a sponging technique. I watched a couple of tutorials, and then I’ll googled for a galaxy image.
Space is incredibly beautiful! I found so many amazing pictures of galaxies, and finally I ended up on Wikipedia reading about a very large spiral galaxy M74 that was discovered in 1780. According to Wikipedia, it is at a distance of about 32 million light-years away from Earth.
Well, my Galaxy M74 Manicure is right here :D
Galaxy nails are easy to do, and the main advantage of the design is that you can do it equally great on both hands using a make up sponge. No precision required :)
Here’s the list of products:
- Dark blue base color – Essence Hard to Resist
- Black shimmering color – Essence Fabuless
- Teal shimmer – Maybelline Colorama 22 in Jelly Bean
- White spots – Maybelline Colorama 51
- Minty blue shade – Essence You Belong to Me
- Pink shade – OPI Shorts Story
- Make up sponge
- Pink glitter dust
This is the pic of Galaxy M74 that inspired me:
So I tried to paint smth similar. First of all I applied 2 coats of the dark blue Essence nail polish and waited for it to dry. Then I sponged all the shades listed above: white and pink for the core of the galaxy, light blue and teal for its spiral, and black for deep space around it. After sponging I painted white spots (stars) to make the whole design less gloomy.
Finally I applied 1 coat of Orly Glosser (which is a clear top) to even the surface. Right after that I sprinkled a little bit of the glitter dust over the wet top coat. That’s it :)
My galaxy nails once again:
Thank you for reading! Have a great weekend xxx
Beautifully done! I love the colors you chose :)
Thank you :)
